The Village Square: April 2, 2018

It’s here!
Restoration Games announced/releases the look for the board in their upcoming reprint of Fireball Island. Nostalgic anyone?!

Those pesky kids
This July Renegade Game Studios will release Spy Club, a cooperative mystery detective game with a legacy element.  With 40 replayable modules and 5 connected game play variants, you can unlock new adventures each time that affect future mysteries!

Rising expansion
Fresh off the release of Rising Sun, CMON has now introduced the first expansion, Dynasty Invasion.  It includes two new clans (Sun and Moon), seven new lucky gods and season cards.

Rainbow road
A new version of Monopoly Gamer is now available through Hasbro and Nintendo: Mario Kart edition.

Alternate valley
Stonemaier Games will release a new expansion to Viticulture in June.  Visit from the Rhine Valley provides a deck of 80 altnerate visitor cards that must be played without the original visitors, and they focus more on the wine business, as opposed to just victory points.

New from Rio Grande
This month the publisher will release two new titles. In Beta Colony you compete to build the best planetary colony with a unique “rolldell” – combination of dice and rondel.  And in Epoch: Early Adventures you will lead your clan at the dawn of civilization discovering the land, inventing tools and appease the holy places.

Every rebellion needs a strike team
In 3rd quarter 2018 Fantasy Flight Games will release a Rebel Commandos Unit expansion to Star Wars: Legion, along with the Han Solo Commander expansion.  The seven easily assembled minis from the former give your rebellion unorthodox tactics and powerful weapons that can sway the battle against the Empire.

Another classic
Z-Man Games announced they will be publishing Fae, a re-imagined reprinting of Leo Colovini’s Clans, itself a 2003 Spiel des Jahres nominee.  The art and production are boosted, but the simple and strategic mechanics remain the same.

Tasty Minstrel Games announced a new Philip DuBarry title, Embark, a card drafting game set in the Harbour universe.  That’s just among many other announcements and releases…

Another heist
Ninja Division’s Museum Rush will be available April 18. Race against other thieves to avoid guards and cameras to steal the museum’s valuable collection!

Secession Stuggle
In May GMT Games releases Mark Herman’s new political/war game Fort Sumter: The Secession Crisis. The design utilizes the popular card driven mechanics of We the People and Twilight Struggle, using cards for either their events or political capital in the tragic lead up to the American Civil War.

Contribute to a gaming calendar!

I have lots of kids. Board games help me connect with them, while still retaining my sanity...relatively speaking.
